Tonight is the December Full Moon. During this month, the winter cold fastens its grip, and nights are at their longest and darkest. It is also sometimes called the Moon before Yule. Long Night’s Moon is a doubly appropriate name because the midwinter night is long, and the Moon is above the horizon for a long time. The midwinter full Moon has a high trajectory across the sky because it is opposite a low Sun. The moon names, for example, Cold Moon, originates from "Native American, Colonial American, or other traditional sources passed down through generations." In the case of December’s full moon, the "Cold Moon" title is a Mohawk name that recognizes the weather that often accompanies this time of the year.
Items Needed:
Journal (The Moon Phase Spiritual Journal is perfect for any Moon event)
Writing utensil
A comfortable space to sit and journal (smudge the room to clear negative energies)
Before starting your journaling ritual, spend five minutes of meditation with your eyes closed. Set your intentions and let go of anything weighing heavily over you.
Journal Prompts:
What do I want to achieve this month?
As this year comes close to concluding, what am I proud of myself for accomplishing so far?
What do I dream of and what energies or ties do I need to release to achieve these dreams?
What do I hope to manifest for the next moon phase?
Love and Light!
